Vekoma develops new train
One of the largest attraction builders in the world is situated in the Netherlands. Vekoma designed and build many roller coasters, madhouses, Ferris wheels, … in the past. This year, Vekoma brings a new type of train on the market.
Limitated maintenance
Maintenance is very important and asks a lot of money of amusement parks. That’s why they limited the maintenance for the new trains.
First they looked how they could work modular (standardisation, so parts can be used on other trains). Thanks to this, Vekoma can produce a larger amount of the same parts what reduces the production costs. Next they looked how they could minimize the amount of weld points. This makes it easier for the technical staff (yearly inspections). Eventually they produced a new chassis which can be used on multiple type of coasters (suspended, sitting coaster).
Comfort
A much important fact about the new train is the better comfort. If the track is designed well but the train is not comfortable, then this may affect the ride experience in a bad way.
Vekoma engineers designed a new seat which is more natural for the human body. Pressure is divided over the entire seat. The new seats are comfortable and make you feel free. The “Patented Special Seat & Restraint” is born:
These trains can also be used on inversion coasters, which will give an entire new experience. A vest will be added to the train for more safety but this will not affect the riders vision. Riders will feel totally free.
Next year, the first roller coaster will be equiped with this new type of train. The first impressions are outstanding and we are looking forward to the first installation of it.
