Employees at an amusement park in Daejeon failed to safety check a ride, which resulted in two riders falling 35 meters to the ground on Sunday.

The two schoolgirls fell off the rotating ride “Swing Drop,” which rotates 360 degrees and boasts a peak height of 40 meters. Both girls sustained serious head, arm and leg injuries, and were taken to the nearby hospital.

Police said they questioned two employees who operated the ride and admitted they did not check whether passengers had fastened their seat-belts before the ride commenced.

Kumdori Land issued an apology to the public yesterday.
“We apologize for causing trouble and hope the children recover quickly. In future, we will do our best to prevent such an accident happening again.”
