Final lap for Grand Strand Park

The Grand Prix Family Thrill Park will close for good in a week. It’s the second of the Grand Strand parks to say it quits this year, leaving one major park behind.
The rising costs (wages, insurance, property,…) have forced the family park to redevelop with hotels, campgrounds and attractions.A big shopping center will replace the rides and formula racing go-karts that made the park one of the most popular attractions for vacationing families. But business took a turn this year forcing the family to explore other options.
Mark Lazarus, park-owner says “the numbers just don’t work anymore.”
A shrinking season and the closure of the nearby camping resort which used to supply a stream of thrill-seekers forced the park to close its doors.
The Grand Prix Family Thrill Park is the latest victim of the beach’s shifting demographics. The Myrtle Beach Pavilion Amusement Park in Myrtle Beach also is closing for good this month, and the Fun Spot in North Myrtle Beach is being redeveloped.
The only major park left is the Family Kingdom Amusement Park in Myrtle Beach.
