RMT closed untill 2007

Contradicting earlier reports, it has been announced that the Runaway Mine Train (Alton Towers, UK) will stay closed until next year!
The coaster closed because of an accident in mid-July. Several people got injured. The health and safety executive has given permissions to re-open the ride as soon as possible. However, the train and track took to much damage to be re-opened this year. It will take longer to repair it.
Terry Dunn, head of technical services explains:
“Obviously, health and safety is our most important consideration, and there is still a lot of work to be done to the track following the unfortunate incident earlier this year.
In addition, we have sent the carriages back to the manufacturer in Germany for a complete refurbishment, which is a time consuming process. We don’t want to rush anything, so have decided to delay the re-opening until next season.”
