Cedar Point is glad to present a new roller coaster which will be added to the theme park in 2007.

Guest will enter a new frontier zone, home of the new roller coaster named “Maverick“. This coaster will treat riders with terrain-hugging elements that have never been experienced in the park before.

Ride layout

The adventures begins by boarding a steam-era-styled train that carry’s visitors over the 1356 meters course. Linear synchronous motors will take the train to the top of the lifthill. From there it’s straight down going in a 95° drop at speeds up to 91km/u within 1,5 meters above the ground. Next up the trains hugs the terrain while it twist and banks with smooth changes in direction.

Duration and speed

During the 2 minutes and 30 second ride passengers will experience eight airtime hills, three inversions and a second launch through a dark tunnel at 112km/u.

Construction

Maverick is situated on 5,5 acres, between the Mean Streak roller coaster and Thunder Canyon water ride. It will be Cedar Points 17th coaster and will cost approximately 16 million euros to be build, making it one of the park largest investments.

New brand of rollercoaster?

John Hildebrandt, vice president of Cedar Point represents Maverick as a new brand of Roller Coaster.

Guest searching for excitement can ride Maverick when the park opens for the 2007 season in May. Until then they can follow construction at the park’s website. Guests must be at least 1,2 meters tall to ride.

    Here I am again, (I’m gonna be a Thrillenium freak :) ).
    Serious now,.. a 97° steep first drop, nice track lay out, very unique elements ( witch are taken won high speed (!) ) and esspecially a very long 2.5 minutes ride!

    Intamin and Cedar Point will do a great job!
